High-throughput screening (HTS) is an important tool for chemical screening that can analyze cellular and biochemical responses in a relatively cost-effective and less labor-intensive manner through miniaturization and mechanization. Typically, HTS refers to the automation (the use of robotic arms, automated liquid dispensers, and computer-controlled plate readers) of in vivo assays to increase throughput.
