Active Vision
Vision systems are called active when they can be controlled automatically to capture the right images to answer specific queries. Active Vision explores contributions in control of image acquisition parameters (such as intelligent lights, tracking, visual servoing, …) and 3D geometrical reconstruction.
The main objective is to develop and transfer intelligent active vision systems into the society. These systems can increase the degree of security, control, autonomy, flexibility and efficiency of new sensors which can be installed in a wide spectrum of applications, such as:
- Inspection of raw materials, production processes and quality control of the final product.
- Monitoring: to inspect, detect, track and recognize moving objects.
- 3D modeling: to generate 3D geometric models of products or scenes.
- Manipulation: a 3D machine vision system can be used to locate the objects to be manipulated by an industrial robot.
